I broadly like to stay away from "isms" and "mass delusions" at the same time, I don't believe myself to be inclined towards certain sects who refute the existence of possibilities that's beyond our current state of experience. It is highly illogical to assume things what we don't know. It is not easy to make people understand the choices we make since we find ourselves in a convoluted dual facets of life where we try to strike a balance between the worlds inside us with heap of impressions that we carry with ourselves in our wakefulness brushed neatly with a touch of our ego. These similar impressions find the manifestation in our dream states in an incoherent manner. While most of us are busy looking at other individuals as separately functioning entities. Our subjective idea of a person other than us narrows down to the heaps of impressions that we tend to trudge along with ourselves. Let us think about a group of friends sitting on a beach, on a lazy Sunday afternoon, basking in the sun and looking towards the horizon. The perception of each individual would be limited to their own subjective perception of reality. It would be diluted with personal beliefs, thoughts and past experiences. Everyone has the same view but what information is filtered out from the mind is different giving them a different scope into reality from one another. The beauty of Shakti (cosmic forces) is such that it still completes the picture of every individual but the motion of the picture would be different for every person.. Experience of oneness would be missing unless a person would be established in yoga (union)
What are these impressions. Do they have an existential appositeness. To answer this question, you would have to pinch yourself and break an image of Karma in your mind that you have accumulated. Karma is not a bitch like a Hollywood film would like you to believe. Karma isn't a sort of punishment or an eye for an eye. It is the a profound subject in Yoga and a whole books with multiple volumes could be written to explain the immensity of karma but to simply carve out elementary definition it is the causal body that determines our life. Karma is not mere activity that ought to bring out actions good or bad. These types of common conjectures existing today about Sanatan Dharma is reflective of lack of knowledge held by intellectual champions of Hinduism which typecast it as regressive and aboriginal.
Are these karmic impressions helping us?
The answer to this question is evolving on premises brought forth. There are two sides to answer. Let us get down to understanding it. What kept the humans alive in primitive times. It wasn't technology, it wasn't skills, it wasn't communion. It was
FEAR. Fear enraged the primordial humans into surviving. These apprehensions guided us into the changing times. The direness to survive infused our instincts with will to survive. If we contemplate on our insecurities and jealousy. It can unnerve us to a point where we see our nature changing to the stimuli, falling into patterns of impulsive state of mind. Darwin in his writing said "It's neither the strongest not the most intelligent of the species who survive but those who are most responsive to change" This latent source of knowledge embedded as basic instincts is what kept species fighting to survive. This is where the karmic impressions are coming into fruition and shielding us from the higher sources of existence. If you are fulfilled with food, sleep and sex then this is where your level of being exhausts. The evolution is chained.
The world is trapped into slavery of thought. People can't distinguish themselves away from their psychological phenomenon. Fundamentally, we are all adhering to different stories, experiences to which we have a front row view. However, If you long to break the shackles of imprisonment and free yourself from running in circles. It would take a serious amount of critical investigation not just of the surroundings but of self. Unlearning can be painful. Minimalism is often seen as deprivation. Abstinence is beaten down as a rogue of spirituality. This is an outsider perspective of those who lack insight. Take this as a part of the process. Minimalism involves changing the paradigms. It is a life changing experience and a process to be reborn into a new individual. Minimalism is only the stepping stone, it is not the destination. Minimalism turns to Mimamsa's school of thought revolves around this domain where the level of insight gradually transcends to a higher level. Mimamsa gives space to both atheism as well as theism. It follows a boundless route of analysis and research, Mimamsa primarily edifies to gain knowledge through different doors of intellect that are as follows: Upmana (comparison and analogy) Pratyaksha (perception), Arthapati (derivations), Sabda (Texts, documents, testimonies), Anupalabdhi (non perception), Anumana (Inference, brain storming and brute forcing)
Humans are so adamant in attaching labels to people that they create checkpoints for themselves. This is where the survival instinct kicks in. Evidently, this is how the human intellect functions. We can't despise our ignorance, we can only work our way towards refinement. The current state of human consciousness is obviously not ready to grow out of the pit that world establishments have created for the masses. Wars are profitable. Pharmaceutical companies are not doling out incentives without the apprehensions of being rewarded. A knowledge that could free someone from suffering is patented. Minimalism is Sadhana. Sadhna is a sanskrit word which literally means "means of accomplishing something" It is one such way of getting rid of the labels that we have put on ourselves and only when we remove the labels we can get on with Mimasa to identify our true being and lead fulfilling lives. It would be the first step towards world peace when world will come to the understanding and live more joyfully without fussing over. cluttered ideas of our existence. Minimalism itself should not be used as a template to live by otherwise it would be creation of another label which defeats the purpose of our whole process. Therefore minimalism should be done in a very efficient way, taking it as a purification process to step onto the next stage.
Minimalism to Mimamsa is the journey to the most vivid experiences of life.
If it is not adding value to your life, learn to let it go. Live life with more zest. This is what is needed to make your life blissful. The essence of yoga doesn't lie in stretching body parts but in making an inner journey towards the Atman. The ever conscious, omnipresent and awakened state of being that remains subsided with our ego. Clear the clutter in your life and begin your journey of minimalism to Mimamsa. Experience oneness.
