We have often found ourselves lurking around the term sixth sense. A psychic ability or a supernatural phenomenon that has been conceptualised well in films and television. Although, there are still some misconceptions around our sixth sense, it's only fair since our sixth sense works as a latent form of intelligence which generally lies quiescent because of our inability to use our potential without realising the fundamental principles of cause and effects, it makes an interesting prospect for a seeker to learn and practice to achieve an enhanced perception of nature.
Sixth sense is a vague term for the third eye or the ajna chakra as conceived in yogic science through Adiyogi. There are elaborate instances of use of third eye of lord Shiva in Shiv Puranas that signify the wisdom, righteousness, non-duality and the powers of the third eye. It is highly advised for serious practitioners to undertake these steps under a realised guru since it can have sporadic effects on the behaviour and persona of the Sadhaka (seeker) Yoga is the means of arriving at the knowledge with the most blissful experience. It should not be mistreated otherwise it can have ill effects on the users.
The process more important than the arrival. The 5 lucid steps mentioned here shall enable the learners on a steadfast of clairvoyance. Disseminating the science of yoga introduced by Adiyogi, we shall take a look at how to effectively develop your sixth sense with 5 lucid steps.
Note- All the 5 lucid steps involves fair amount of practice, penance and patience. It can be over bearing as an activity if it not administered with utmost care. This is why it is always advised to undertake these teachings under a Guru.through a systematic branch of yogic knowledge. If it becomes difficult it is better to leave it early before step 3 otherwise it can cause a fear amount of discomfort.
Attention (Awareness)
|
STEP 1) Knowledge of Self. |
At the foundation of developing a stable sixth sense lies the unconditioned awareness of self. It is not easy for practitioners at first easy to set the calm away from the clamour. It takes a considerable amount of time in restoring acquiring our senses back to the state of rest from an impulsive state. It is only in peace we can usher with a creative force. It requires stillness. Being present in the moment, to flow with the exuberant life energies is pure joy. It is the process of getting rid of the entanglements that takes time. Once a clear state of awareness is reached, the thoughts can be better observed to their roots. Only with a knowledge of self one can gain the knowledge of the world.
Retention (Remembrance)
|
STEP 2) Dissolution of Knowledge. |
Retention of knowledge takes a high amount of temperance. It is quite easy to meddle into opinions and conjugated affairs of different matters but to hold down a clear image of things it requires deep contemplation. We are met with different tastes and flavours of life. Without much consideration to our own nature, we tend to strain ourselves with the finer tastes that we find pleasurable. While, they may initially gratify our senses for some time their consumption will decline with it's value after a period of time. Hence, it is important to comprehend to retain the true nature of ourselves, we have to break out of conventions. Lord Shiva is represented in so many forms that is impossible him to consecrate him to a single dimension of life. It take enormous courage to assimilate the universality of nature. Truth is a hard pill to swallow.
Tension (Conflict)
|
STEP 3) Suffering of Knowledge. |
It is not easy to clear the initial two steps. It involves dealing with the ahankara (ego) and Moh (attachments) There is a turbulent force that makes the process vulnerable. Attention and Retention are often at loggerheads due to a simultaneous process of active perception. Therefore as a reactionary measure the tension is cropped up in the process that can make the process stagnant if it not dealt with proper measures. It is the the natural process that creates an experiential learning curve for the Sadhakas to overcome for ease of understanding and discerning the complexities of the nature. It becomes important to take the tension as a part of process, to understand it better it is conceived as an itch of knowledge that instigates the process of learning and pursuing the path of truth. It is harder to bear the truth than to bear ignorance. It is during this step you awaken and it's become
hard to go back to sleep.
Meditation (Mediation)
|
STEP 4) Breaking down of Knowledge. |
The process of meditation works as a mediation process that clears the conflict of the 3rd step and sets a clear path for the higher perspectives to come forthright. Meditation is not an activity. It is a consequence of your own doing. During the meditative states, the process of learning and imbibing the higher knowledge becomes lucid. The experiences of life become more fluid at this step. There is an air of ease and comfort that makes this step desirable. The intuitive intelligence starts to blossoms. There is a heightened state of awareness where sense perceptions are enhanced to higher levels. During the step 4 the veils of Maya (illusions) become transparent. This steps begins with a clear vision and ascends later to the stage of awakening.
Clairvoyance (Awakening)
|
STEP 5) Possession of Knowledge. |
After the penance of four steps, we arrive at the possession of knowledge. Intense visual stimulation, hyper state of awareness and a deep sense of solace are instilled into the Sadhaka but it can very well turn into a nightmare with hallucinations, restlessness and behavioural disorders. This is why the due process should not be cheated. The fifth step opens up a dimension outside of our five senses. It requires a sense of responsibility to imbibe the third eye effectively. The awakening can give rise to immense amounts of euphoria with evolved and enhanced perception that it gets difficult to keep the abilities under control. It should be understood that everything comes at the right time, what matters the most is our forbearance. This completes the 5 lucid steps to our sixth sense.
